Fractional GTM/Strategy Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Description

Michigan State University Research Foundation (MSU Research Foundation) is part of the Global Epicenter of Mobility’s (GEM) Mobility Funder’s Network and is seeking to engage a Fractional GTM/Strategy Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) to support the Mobility Funders Network, focusing on mobility-related initiatives.


Core Responsibilities

  • Build GTM Foundations: Design repeatable GTM playbooks, help founders identify ICPs and buyer personas, and establish pipeline management systems, CRM setup, and sales operations.
  • Drive Revenue & Traction: Develop pricing strategies, value propositions, and competitive positioning; support deal closures with customers and partners; structure pilot programs and enterprise sales processes.
  • Develop Strategic Partnerships: Identify and engage key industry partners for distribution and co-development; connect founders with mobility players.
  • Enable Scalable Growth: Guide transition from founder-led sales to commercial teams; design KPIs and dashboards to track key growth metrics.
Requirements
  • Seven + years in sales, business development, or GTM leadership (VP Sales, CRO, Head of GTM) with proven success scaling B2B sales organizations from Seed to exit.
  • Strong understanding of mobility, automotive, or transportation technology ecosystems; experience with hardware-enabled, SaaS, or deep-tech business models; familiarity with enterprise/OEM sales cycles.
  • Experience within venture-backed startups; understanding of how GTM performance ties into fundraising.  
  • Strong ability to coach technical founders through ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities.
  • Strong analytical mindset to translate customer data into sales insights.
  • Excellent ability to manage and support multiple companies simultaneously.

Commitment

  • 10 hours/week, hybrid (East Lansing and/or Detroit offices)
