Job Summary: This role will oversee the creation of proprietary models and tools using predictive analytics, machine learning, and statistical inference to enhance pricing, underwriting, claims, and customer retention strategies. The director of analytics will guide a team of data scientists and analysts, ensuring model transparency, regulatory compliance, and business impact. Will also drive the adoption of analytics solutions, enhance data governance, and stay ahead of industry trends to continuously elevate Aspire’s decision-making capabilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop intellectual property to deepen Aspire's competitive moat using predictive analytics, machine learning, and statistical inference.
- Create data-driven tools to amplify Aspire’s existing distribution, product, and claims expertise.
- Partner with finance to project and measure ROI for key activities and spend
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of predictive models and advanced analytics (e.g., pricing, underwriting, claims, broker analytics, fraud, customer retention).
- Lead, mentor, and grow data scientists and data analysts. Must be a hands-on technical leader with a player-coach mindset.
- Ensure model transparency, interpretability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders in underwriting, actuarial, product, claims, and sales/marketing.
- Translate business needs into actionable analytics solutions and drive adoption across the organization.
- Partner with IT and data engineering to improve data availability, quality, and governance.
- Define and monitor KPIs through dashboards and reports that measure business performance.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Identify and integrate external data sources, new technologies, and tools to enhance decision-making capabilities.
- Collaborate with outside vendors including managed service providers and software vendors.
- Stay current with industry trends and innovations in insurance analytics.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Computer Science); master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.
· 10+ years of experience in analytics, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
· Prior experience in the auto insurance industry is required.
· Demonstrated success leading analytics teams and delivering business impact.
· Strong understanding of regulatory considerations in insurance (e.g., rating compliance, model governance).
Education/Experience:
Advanced data knowledge, bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science or Statistics, with requisite work experience or course work in Data Science and Software development.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience is desired. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in insurance required.
Skills:
· Expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
· Strong command of tools such as Python, R, SQL, and modern data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
· Deep knowledge of auto insurance data from both operational and analytical perspectives.
· Proven ability to communicate complex analytics to non-technical stakeholders.
· Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Databricks) is a plus.
· Exceptional project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
· High degree of business acumen and strategic thinking.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
· Solid understanding of Actuarial concepts, up to exam 5 concepts, is a plus.

This is a position based in a professional office environment or remote/hybrid setting, depending on company policy.
Standard business hours apply, with occasional extended hours required to meet project deadlines or attend leadership meetings.
Frequent use of a computer, phone system, and claims management software.
Must be comfortable navigating multiple systems and screens simultaneously.
Requires clear, professional verbal communication and active listening skills.
Fast-paced environment with performance metrics.
Must be able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams across time zones requiring flexibility in scheduling.
May require occasional travel (up to 10–15%) to company offices, vendor sites, or industry conferences.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours per day) while working on a desk computer.
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and video conferencing tools.
Must be able to read and interpret documents, emails, and computer screens.
Extended screen time is required.
Must be able to hear and speak clearly on the phone for extended periods.
Use of a headset is common and may be required.
Minimal physical movement required; occasional walking or standing may be needed.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., for transporting laptops or presentation materials).
