Position: 2025 Summer Wheel Intern
Location: San Francisco
Program Duration: 8 weeks (Monday, June 16, 2025 – Friday, August 8, 2025)
Compensation: $30 per hour (Full-time, 40 hours/week)
Position Summary
The Hamilton Zanze Summer Wheel Internship Program is an eight-week, full-time rotational internship designed to provide exposure to key functions within real estate investment and asset management. Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of deal flow by rotating through Transactions, Asset Management, and Investor Relations.
Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and structured learning modules, interns will develop technical skills, industry knowledge, and strategic thinking while actively contributing to our business. The program will conclude with a final presentation, where interns will showcase their learning and insights to company leadership.
Program Structure & Learning Objectives:
Transactions Rotation
Focus: Real estate acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, underwriting, and financial modeling.
Interns will gain insight into:
- The deal evaluation process, including underwriting, market research, and financial modeling.
- The fundamentals of debt and equity financing and valuation techniques.
- The closing process, lender relationships, and deal execution strategies.
Asset Management, Project Management, and Risk Management Rotation
Focus: Portfolio management, financial analysis, and market research.
Interns will be introduced to:
- Financial performance tracking through analysis of key property metrics.
- Strategies for managing and optimizing a real estate portfolio.
- Industry trends and economic factors impacting multifamily real estate.
- Coordination with property management teams and potential on-site property visits.
Investor Relations, Client Relations, and Marketing & Communications Rotation
Focus: Raising capital, investor communication, and marketing strategies.
Interns will develop an understanding of:
- The role of capital raising and investor engagement in real estate transactions.
- The importance of client services, investor reporting, and financial communications.
- Marketing and branding strategies used to support investor relations efforts.
Final Project & Presentation
Objective: Synthesize learning from all three departments into a final presentation.
Interns will:
- Select a research topic or case study based on their experiences.
- Present their findings and strategic recommendations to company leadership.
- Participate in a roundtable discussion with department heads and mentors for feedback.
Job Requirements
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree
- Passion for real estate investment and asset management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and an interest in financial modeling.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
