Status:  Full time, exempt

Hybrid Schedule (in-person/remote)

Summary: 

The Program Services Department is responsible for supporting girl programming across the Girls Inc. Network of Affiliates that ensures delivery of a high-quality, relevant, and transformative Girls Inc. Experience. The department supports affiliate program teams and other local and national staff with resources and technical assistance related to the comprehensive Girls Inc. Experience, including understanding and implementing appropriate service delivery models, ensuring program quality, and assisting in growing the number of girls.

A Curriculum Specialist will work with and for the Girls Inc. affiliates, crafting engaging and impactful program content. As a member of the Program Services Department, the Curriculum Specialist will lead designated projects and program areas within the context and framework of creating, supporting, and sustaining a Girls Inc. Experience with impact for school-age cisgender girls and young women, transgender girls, and nonbinary individuals. Assigned program focus areas will vary over time and be determined with consideration of expertise, experience, and skills. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all aspects of work assignments to successfully complete deliverables within the designated timeline. Create and use detailed work plans that outline tasks and responsibilities. 
  • Collaborate with department staff to conceptualize, write, and design written program materials and web-based content consistent with the Girls Inc. mission and priorities, while maintaining standards and criteria for development, design, and assessment. 
  • Work with the Program Services team to identify program objectives, target audience, and key messaging, in alignment with the overarching Girls Inc. goals, priorities, and outcomes for girls. 
  • Research and gather relevant information to inform program content, including best practices, trends, and youth development principles.
  • Write clear, concise, and engaging program materials, such as lesson plans, activity guides, handouts, and presentations.
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts to refine and improve program content.
  • Engage national and affiliate staff, girls, and external subject matter experts in advisory roles in the program and resource development processes as often as practical and feasible. 
  • Collaborate with Research and Evaluation staff around surveys, program evaluation, and data collection. 
  • Work directly with Girls Inc. affiliate staff in understanding and completing projects, initiatives, pilots, and training opportunities. Manage all details including promotion of opportunities, affiliate engagement, communications, support, developing and procuring contractual agreements, and working with consultants, and leading meetings
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in youth development, education, and programming.
  • Work with Program Service staff to develop, monitor, and report on assigned budgets and initiate project related financial transaction processes, as applicable. 
  • Work with the designated Learning and Leadership Development staff as the subject matter expert to design agendas, content, and supplemental material for use in in-person or virtual training, and promote learning materials and opportunities. Work with designated staff and consultants to assess effectiveness and determine how to enhance future learning events and opportunities. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications:

  • Degree from four-year college or university in Education, Curricula Development, Youth Development, Communications, or related area or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in program development, informal education programming, and youth development. 
  • Knowledge of youth development field, girls' developmental characteristics, educational theories, curriculum writing, and best practices; familiarity with various instructional design methodologies, and technology tools. 
  • Experience representing diverse, multicultural populations. 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences and formats.
  • Demonstrated project management skills: leading and managing short-term and multi-year projects with defined deliverables.  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve project goals and willingness to focus on varying program topic areas.
  • Skill in, and enthusiasm for the use of information technology; proficiency in the Windows-based PC environment (word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet), Microsoft Office 360, Google Suite, Salesforce, and other business platforms.
  • Detail oriented, well organized and possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak effectively before groups. 
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. a distance of up to 10 feet.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of time. Out-of-town trips may range from 1 day to 1 week.

Salary Description
$60,000-$63,000
