Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state with locations in Milwaukee and Appleton. Founded in 1982 by the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is a local and independent member of the Feeding America network. Driven by our mission to solve hunger, we are bringing more people together around the table to collaboratively address the root causes of hunger. Together with our network partners, we serve nearly half a million food-insecure people across 35 counties in eastern Wisconsin each year.  


JOB PURPOSE: 

The role of the Marketing Manager at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is all about telling our story across multiple platforms and positioning our organization as the expert in hunger-relief in Wisconsin. This position plays a vital part in making sure our messaging looks and sounds right, whether it’s via social media, print collateral, online content, or captivating video. You’ll be charged with creating eye-catching designs, producing engaging content for social media, and ensuring our brand is always consistent. This job is at the heart of making sure Wisconsinites know who we are, what we do, and why we matter. 


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manages and develops content for all social media channels, eBlasts, and digital marketing platforms. 
  • Proactively plans, creates, and executes engaging daily content across multiple social media channels.
  • Writes, designs, and schedules all external mass email campaigns.
  • Primary graphic designer for flyers, fundraising collateral, print and digital advertising, event signage, presentation decks, and social media/web content with extreme attention to detail for consistency in branding and messaging.
  • Maintains a robust content calendar that aligns with campaigns, events, and strategic marketing plans.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive external marketing campaigns that align with our mission and fundraising goals.
  • Manages all pages and elements for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s website.
  • Implements innovative ideas for long-and-short form storytelling and social media posts based on what is trending in real-time, while always maintaining the appropriate level of professionalism.
  • Establishes an engaging, relatable, and professional voice for the organization via all external communications.
  • Responds promptly to comments, mentions, shares, and messages on social media, fostering positive interactions with our organization and addressing any concerns sensitively.
  • Tracks and monitors analytics and insights to measure the performance and impact of strategies.
  • Collaborates with internal departments, volunteers, sponsors, and network partners to ensure our content highlights all areas and aspects of the organization effectively.
  • Works closely with external influencers and campaign ambassadors to broaden the reach and impact of the organization’s brand and public presence.
  • Assists with the management and fulfillment of special events and campaigns, as needed.
  • Proofreads press releases and acts as an organization spokesperson when necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to understand and support FAEW’s mission, vision, and effective actions to end food insecurity and its causes.
  • Respect for the people FAEW serves and commitment to learn the causes of their food insecurity and need.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience, preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in managing multiple social media channels and creating engaging content (required).
  • Proficiency in graphic design, specifically with using Canva (required). 
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • General knowledge of WordPress websites, and email communication.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views. 
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends for FAEW events.
  • Valid Driver’s license, proof of insurance and transportation to support work activities.   

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.

However, our FAEW campuses serve as a critical hub for collaboration and, while we want to embrace flexibility,  a consistent presence in the office or out in the field and working on projects or networking through natural camaraderie , will be expected. This position does have the capacity to engage in a flexible work schedule.
