Working at MKG

MKG, with offices in NYC and LA, is looking for a talented and versatile Senior Graphic Designer to join our Design team. Candidates should be within commuting distance of either office and will need to be available for in-person collaboration on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.


This position will begin with a four month short term position before converting to full time.


Overview of the Role

As a creative agency specializing in brand action, each project is totally different from the next and with that the graphic scopes encompass a wide range of 2D needs — both digital and physical. The right candidate will demonstrate excitement, experience and flexibility in working across a multitude of project types as well as a curiosity for continuously exploring new approaches and executions. 


The Senior Graphic Designer will directly oversee other members of the Graphic Design team. They will also work both independently and collaboratively (with both 2D and 3D designers) on projects at varying capacities — leading projects independently, leading projects collaboratively and supporting others on projects. 


What You Will Do in This Role

  • Fully lead the 2D portion of projects (medium to large scale, including some of the agency’s most complex work), sometimes while overseeing other designers working in supporting roles
  • Guide and support intern to mid-level Graphic Designers, fostering their growth and development within the agency.
  • Work as part of a Creative team, collaborating with 3D and other 2D Designers and Creative Strategists as well as with a larger team of Producers and Account Managers., etc.
  • Lead development of original identity systems and/or overall graphic concepts for new campaigns or experiential properties—ensuring originality and alignment with client objectives. This could include the creation of brand guidelines on occasion
  • Develop overall art direction for projects—creating mood boards and comps for internal and external presentations
  • Spearhead the execution of print and digital graphics for campaigns or live events and to ensure high-quality deliverables and alignment with project goals. Graphics could include: social and web assets, printed assets, environmental graphics, signage and wayfinding, branded swag, packaging, digital interfaces, micro-sites, video assets, and more. 
  • Develop visually compelling proposal decks to effectively communicate and sell concepts to clients.
  • Generate engaging internal marketing materials for various channels such as web, social media, and presentations, maintaining consistency with the agency's branding and messaging.
  • Work closely with external vendors and partners, such as printing companies and developers, to oversee the production phase and ensure the quality and timely delivery of materials and assets.

Salary Description

$95,000 - $125,000  annually

***This is the minimum + maximum base salary that we, in good faith, are willing to pay at the time of the posting. Salary commensurate with experience.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THIS ROLE: 

  • 5-8 years of proven creative execution in graphic design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Degree in Graphic/Communications Design or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with Google Workplace; proficiency in Google Slides/PowerPoint is advantageous
  • Knowledge of additional digital software/platforms such as Wordpress, Sketch, etc., is beneficial
  • Experience with animation/video editing software like AfterEffects is a plus
  • Experience in managing and mentoring other designers
  • Strong graphic/typography skills with a keen design eye
  • Experience in developing original brand identities and adhering to brand guidelines
  • Robust portfolio demonstrating original graphic themes and conceptual art direction
  • Passion for staying updated on design trends
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong project management and delegation abilities

  • Confident and articulate in presenting work
  • Proactive in offering perspectives to enhance projects
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines under pressure

Salary Description
